Winner! Best Furniture Store 2007: Loft Appeal

>>   http://www.ladowntownnews.com/articles/2007/07/23/news/news07.txt

"Heaven in a 3000 sq. ft. retail space, Loft Appeal makes me want to reenter the world of furniture sales and interior design I left behind six years ago...A descriptive tasting of what you will find on your voyage in this brilliant store: Lamps, curtains, mugs, cocktail napkins, bookcases, stretched canvas prints, futons, Murphy beds, dining sets, curios, bar tables and chairs, stools, cocktail tables, cocktail shakers, bar ware, sofas, entertainment solutions, bedding, vases, board games, vintage signage, children's bedroom sets, adult bedroom sets, reclining lounge chairs, occasional tables and seating, outdoor seating, a cube that turns into a vanity (a girl's favorite!), mirrors, pillows, game tables, etc...etc...The staff is relaxed yet knowledgeable, super friendly, and really helpful. That weekend I dragged my man down there to check it out and we surfed the aisles for a good three hours. It was great.

If you love furniture, please go to Loft Appeal. (Plus, Loft Appeal offers in-house and design consultation for those that are clueless when it comes to home design and decoration. They offer delivery if you live near enough. Prices range from very affordable to less affordable, therefore items are accessible to all pocketbooks. P.S. I have no idea how many square feet this place is and don't forget to go down to The Basement.)"

"Loft Appeal opened three years ago and has led the charge in bringing contemporary furniture to Downtown dwellers. The spacious store operated by Rich Reams and Ron Senger sells everything needed to furnish a modern Downtown Los Angeles abode, from sectional sofas to artwork to bedroom sets. Loft Appeal is set up with various room vignettes that make browsing a snap and inspire shoppers with plenty of ideas. The store also sells unique items from movie prop houses. Loft Appeal is at 903 S. Hill St., (213) 629-9105.

Loft Appeal has expanded with a second location[Reel Appeal] in the Arts District. Located in the new Barker Block loft community on Hewitt Street, the 14,000-square-foot space houses Reel Appeal, which displays some of the most interesting film and television props you've ever seen. The owners purchased nearly 50 years of inventory from a major Burbank studio recently, with thousands of boxes still to unpack. From the huge model of the Earth to stuffed polar bears to kitschy memorabilia from notable films, you can spend hours walking through the aisles. There are one-of-a-kind furniture items from couches to mantelpieces to wall murals. Open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Reel Appeal is at 523 S. Hewitt St., (213) 625-1725."

A Real Find
By Jonathan F.
"Every time I walk into Loft Appeal, I am inspired. As an interior designer, I'm always looking for unique items that are different from the standard Pottery Barn/Crate & Barrel variety. This store never disappoints. They carry a wide range of styles, from modern to Moroccan. I love that they have movie props, so you can get some really one-of-a-kind pieces. It's just fun to go into the store and explore."

Not Like Any Other Furniture Store
By Ray K.
"Since I have lived in three different cities over the last five years, I have become something of an expert in furniture stores. I have shopped and made purchases at them all, from Macy's furniture store in San Francisco to Thomasville Furniture in Pasadena and countless other small shops. Although I did enjoy most of the furniture that I bought at these stores, I never became a "fan" of any of the stores.

It's different with Loft Appeal. I am a fan, a big one. I rave about the place and recommend it to friends regularly. From traditional furniture to one of a kind pieces, Loft Appeal is a furniture shoppers dream. I even like to look at the unique stuff I would never think of putting in my place. It is not only a furniture store it is a museum of sorts. But hey, don't take my word for it. Check it out for yourself.

Here are a couple of tips when shopping there:
Ask for Rich he is the co-owner. He will go out of his way for you. He gave me a loaner table and couch while I waited for mine to arrive. He measured my loft and made suggestions that I would never have thought of. Dealing with Rich is like having your own interior decorator you can bounce ideas off of. (Oh yeah, Rich will kill me for this... but haggle with him a bit and he will cut the price on stuff that is already lower than at all the chains.)"

Great to Get Them Talking About You
By Jay G.
"There is plenty of great, quality furnishings at fantastic prices at Loft Appeal. But what I really like is the unusual items (I'd call them "rare" but there is no shortage of unique finds here) that turn a typical home into a one-of-a-kind castle. My friend picked up the actual phone booth from the movie "The Terminal" for a steal and installed it as a hilarious, "private" cubby for guests to make calls at his parties. From the smallest tchokes to big pieces, Loft Appeal is the best place to find that special focal point for your room. I'm just sorry other people are finding out about what I have long thought of as my special place!"

Experts in their field
By C G.
"I was very impressed with the range and quality of merchandise at Loft Appeal. Rich and Ron, the owners, made sure that my questions were answered. I was looking for a unique birthday gift and found furniture for my livingroom. I like the comments from my guests and the conversation starters that I've found here. I live in Texas and don't have a lot of time to shop. I suppose I could search around town here, but it has been much easier to work with Loft Appeal. Selection and shipping was a breeze."

Loft Appeal- Great Electic Mix
By Russell B.
"I have both a loft downtown and an condo in the west side. Bought numerous items with a wide range of objects. Sort of an internatinal bazaar and movie set items , all in one place. The owners are friendly and easy going. Talk to them and get even a better deal.

Like all good stores, there are wide range of items. From $5 accessories to $3000 antique armoires. I bought an amazing Tibetian armoire from Loft Appeal. I had seen a similar cabinet on Beverly Blvd. near Robertson for 3 times more. My best friend knew the store manager at the Westside store and negotiated a dealer cost discount. So instead of $9000 it was $4500. I passed and bought the armoire from Loft Appeal at $1500 less than the 1/2 price of the westside store.
Thanks guys. Good service."

Best in all of Los Angeles
By Susan F.
"This is by far the best furniture shopping in all of Los Angeles, I work downtown, and go in almost every week, because it's always changing, and the prices are great, and the owner is very friendly, and willing to make deals, the more you buy, the better the price. I brought my friends there and they furnished their entire loft from this place, and saved a lot of money, 20-30% off the exact merchandise they saw at Macy's. Lots of fun stuff off movie sets too. A must to check out, seeing is believing!!!!!"

If you want your home to look like a club...
By Tee T. | Insider Guru | Rank: 465
"...then this is your place. The furniture is very modern, sleek, clubby. And when I say clubby, I mean in the VERY Hollywood way. It's fine if you're single, but not if you've got children. The prices aren't bad, either."

Hippest Loft Stuff in the City
"This is the kind of store you walk in, and you immediately know you're going to get great service and a solid deal. I was new to downtown LA and one of the owners, Richard, made me feel comfortable, showed me some great pieces for my loft, had creative deas, and gave me a deal on all the merchandise I bought. There is a lot of variety in the store, and they are very solution-oriented. You can't beat this place - I searched and searched for furniture and lighting but it was either way too Pottery Barnish or just sucked. Loft Appeal had hip, sturdy and cool stuff at a reasonable price. Totally recommend these guys!" - Anna

Excellant service, GREAT prices!! Best Furniture store in LA
"OK, I've been in a lot of furniture stores in my time, but this is the best, no pressure, very nice people. And the prices are GREAT!!! They will bargain with you, and have fun doing it. They have sources to order anything you want. Complete lines of home furnishings, from sofas to rugs, from bedroom to dining room, and really nice selection of accessories from vases to lamps to art work. We first heard about this store on the KTLA Morning News , now it's all the BUZZ> To find out more about them search YAHOO or GOOGLE. Check them out, your going to love this place, and tell all your friends, as I did. We make a once a month (at least) visit, because they get new stuff weekly. Happy Shopping......SF" - Susan Frank

88 Cool, eclectic, but pricey selection of furniture & decoration
"Loft Appeal at 903 S. Hill Street downtown has tons of funky duds for your pad. Think bamboo, distressed, dark-finished, heavy, antique, brushed stainless, Hawaiian-themed, movie props, retro. But pricey. For a real deal, ask if you can go downstairs and root around in the basement. Make them an offer!" - Bryan
